Helping Clients Flash Their Green

Recently, our client Little Dixie Construction converted an empty factory into a state-of-the-art green building for IBM’s Delivery Center in Columbia, Mo. VANGEL was proud to create educational signage throughout the building to highlight its green design, construction and silver LEED certification.

Here’s what the site looked like before.

And here is the building after Little Dixie worked their magic.

Little Dixie and IBM tapped VANGEL to develop informational graphics to educate employees and visitors about the building’s green features.

Our first step? Dumpster diving.

In the spirit of reduce/reuse/recycle, we visited the IBM job site to scout for construction debris.

Lucky for us, our Italian intern Carlo had come along. He volunteered to scale a construction dumpster and haul out a primer-gray, 8-foot electrical door panel. His fine Italian sweater may not have survived, but he can proudly say he got his hands dirty on the job in America. (Ti ricordi, Carlo?)

Here is the metal panel.

With the basis of a cool sign in hand, we enlisted the crew at SignsNow, for a plexiglass panel we would use to tell the building’s green story. The two pieces were then joined and mounted on the wall at IBM.

Next, we needed a way to maintain awareness throughout the massive building. The solution was a series of 12” x 12” plexiglass pieces that feature 3-dimensional items illustrating the building’s green features.

Simple and intriguing, the pieces also serve as “objets d’art” at IBM. There’s nothing like a chunk of concrete, an elephant, or a beer bottle sliced in half (thank you Village Glassworks) to get people talking.

VANGEL is proud to have been a part of this innovative LEED project. Ever wondered what creative, compelling ideas could do for your office space? Try dumpster diving.

Heavy Lifting Made Easy

People are busy. Really busy. Especially today, with the added
demand for attention created by the worldwide web. Savvy businesses understand that their company’s website has only a few moments to grab visitors before they click away to the next online destination.

Why not consider video?

Video can engage viewers in a dynamic way. It can enliven your homepage, be posted on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, and reach specifically targeted groups via email.

We helped our client, RMI, a leading 504 Loan provider in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas, create an online video to show businesses how to grow and succeed with an SBA 504 Loan.

Yeah, but what’s a 504 Loan?

Exactly. RMI needed a simple way to tell potential customers about
504 Loans and address some of the questions people might have about the loan process. Just as important, we wanted the video to give potential customers some insight on working with RMI.

We accomplished both by using interesting visuals, bright colors, and an engaging script. It’s a fast-paced, easy-to-understand overview that’s entertaining to boot. The video punches up the presence of the RMI homepage, serves as a valuable resource for RMI’s various audiences and partners, and is a great way to introduce the company during face-to-face meetings and conferences.

Combine a video with a coordinated campaign, and you’ve got a powerful marketing tool that packs some serious punch.

Let us show you what video can do for your company.

The Making of Chamberopoly 2011

Did you make it to the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Chamberopoly event at the Whiskey Wild Saloon?
We did. What fun!

Despite the challenges of a different location and an entirely new theme for their annual fundraiser (it was previously known as the Twilight Cruise), the folks at the Chamber made sure Chamberopoly was a rockin’ good time and saw a great turnout.

VANGEL was proud to be the Chamber’s marketing partner.
We created a multi-media campaign to introduce the Chamberopoly theme and generate excitement for the event. The components were designed to create a sense of fun, conjure up memories of playing games as kids, and establish an identity for the event.

Here are a few examples.

Codename: RMI 51-59

Operation RMI 51-59 is part of an ad campaign that includes candy tins filled with M&Ms. This past week we prepared the first half of these tins for a mass mailing to a select group of potential clients. If you’re one of those lucky enough to receive an aforementioned candy tin, I must apologize for the lack of blue M&Ms.

The mystery of the missing blue M&Ms began on Monday March 16, 2011. With an office full of M&Ms (330 lbs to be exact) and empty tins, it seemed as though we were prepared to begin filling them. I arrived to work at 8:30 a.m. sharp, with the expectation I’d be putting this all together, since I’m the most qualified (a food handler certified by the state of Missouri). It seemed like all was as it should be while I attended the weekly production meeting, held every Monday. Afterwards upon my workstation I found that all the bags had been opened. This to me was a simple open and shut case, the M&M gnomes came in and had a go at the bags. The M&M gnomes have a business plan that works as such:

  • Phase 1: Collect M&Ms
  • Phase 2: ???
  • Phase 3: Profit

However, upon further investigation I discovered the culprits couldn’t be the gnomes – only the blue ones were missing. The gnomes take all the M&Ms they can get their hands on; therefore, it was very peculiar that only the blue ones were missing. This called for a full on investigation where my suspects now were those closest to the M&Ms, those that work here. Lucky for me, I had watched enough Scooby-Doo growing up that I knew how to narrow down suspects and look for clues. The first clue as to who the culprit might have been came from what I had noticed about candy in the office. I knew it couldn’t be Shannan because not one week after Valentines Day, she brought in a bunch of candy for everyone to share. Anyone bringing in candy for others to enjoy wouldn’t have a craving for M&Ms to the point they would get into the bags in the office. I also knew it couldn’t be Mike because he was out all that week in St. Louis and wouldn’t have known about the candy sitting directly beneath his nose. Therefore, my suspects were Brooke, Kevin, and Ellen. My next clue was from the mailing labels we were going to put on the tins; they had traces of blue fingerprints on them, which knocked Kevin out of the mix because Kevin wouldn’t have touched the labels since he wasn’t involved with them. This left Brooke and Ellen. My final clue came from the thought of who would have access to the office on the weekend, someone with a key. The only people with keys are Mike and Ellen; therefore, it had to have been Ellen. Upon this revelation, I went into Ellen’s office to find her nibbling on the evidence she hadn’t had a chance to dispose of yet.

It was at that moment, I knew I’d found the culprit. I not only solved the mystery, I had caught the thief blue-handed.

Dude, Scope This!

With a client’s ever-expanding selection of soccer shoes, licensed team jerseys, equipment and gear, VANGEL recently got a chance to work in a footballer’s heaven: the SoccerPro.com website. Teaming up with SoccerPro owner and online retail whiz, Tony Marrero, we gave the website a brand new look, helped bump up the fun factor and strengthened the brand’s voice online.

(What do we mean by SoccerPro’s “voice” online? Check out their crazy 999-Day Returns Guarantee and you’ll get the idea.)

One of the great things about SoccerPro is that they’re truly interested in making it worth the time for customers to cruise around their website. Their goal is to make online retail fun. At VANGEL, we dig that. So we were happy to help by creating an eye-candy-licious design, featuring a streamlined navigation that lets customers find exactly what they’re looking for. Hand-drawn elements throughout the site reinforce the SoccerPro voice and add to that fun factor we mentioned. And the new look will continue to evolve, since the new framework is built to allow new graphics and updates as needed.

SCP_beforeBefore…

SCP_after…and After!

Check out the new site design and let us know what you think. If you’re like us, we think you’ll come away with a good feeling about SoccerPro, its massive selection of all stuff soccer, and the company’s pure love of the game.

Online branding at its best…goooooooaaaaaal!

NOTE: We’re still after the guys at SoccerPro to offer vuvuzelas on their site. Especially now that the word vuvuzela has officially made it into the Oxford dictionary. We’ll keep you posted.
